Need help - Korcula or Mostar Day trip?

Hello,

We're visiting Croatia for the first time in early September for 13 nights ending with 3 nights each in Hvar and Dubrovnik before we fly home. We'll have almost 3 full days in Hvar, one day for a trip to Vis and Pakleni Islands, the other 2 days dedicated to exploring Hvar and relaxing at our chosen accommodations. Excited to really wind down after our first week of frequent hotel hopping.

We'll have 2.5 days in Dubrovnik if we leave Hvar early, with one day planned for a trip to Mostar.

We'd really love to see Korčula but can only fit it into our itinerary by stopping on our way to Dubrovnik and giving up the Mostar day trip. Based on ferry schedules, we'd have 8h 10 min for the stop in Korčula. Is this enough time to see old town and possibly fit in some wine tasting in Lumbarda?

Is it worth a quick day trip to either Korčula or Mostar or is it just too much skimming the surface? Perhaps it's best to continue on to Dubrovnik from Hvar and enjoy the 2.5 days more fully immersed there?

Thanks for any input from those with experience!

Go to Mostar. Different country and very different culture from coastal Croatia. Nothing wrong with Korcula but it’s more of the same of what you’re already doing for two weeks.

During an 8-hour port stop in Korcula, you definitely have time to see Korcula Town and visit Lumbarda, which is just 4 miles away— a 15-minute taxi ride.
Korcula Town can be explored in a few hours. You can walk completely around the perimeter of the old town in about twenty minutes.

The Krilo and TP Line catamarans dock right at Korcula Town— about a five-minute walk to the old city gate—while the larger ferries dock at the new ferry port about two miles from Korcula Town.

I wasnt that impressed with Korcula ... it was lovely and interesting but not something that stuck with as one of my better destinations. In three visits to Croatia and 3 visits to Bosnia I have yet to make it to Mostar. I am resoving that in a few weeks. Mostar and Blagaj Tekija. I hired a driver so I dont have to screw with anything but the views.

I really like both Korcula and Mostar. If it were me, I would do the stopover in Korcula as it's simpler and you won't be spending so much time (or any time, I suppose) in the car. Eight hours is definitely enough for that and you can also get the little ferry that takes you to Lumbarda for wine tasting (they also have a nice beach). I think it's one of the nicest old towns in Europe.

Thank you all for taking the time to share your thoughts on my question. I really appreciate it.

After your responses, we've decided to stick with our Mostar plan. We still have major island FOMO for Korčula and Mjlet, so instead of torturing ourselves by heading to Dubrovnik by way of these islands, we've decided to head back to Split, and take a transfer down to Dubrovnik with stops in Ston for oysters and wine, something we were hoping to fit in during our time in Dubrovnik.

Hopefully this will not be our last trip to Croatia!
