Need advice for a Hub in Croatia for one week

We are starting in Munich 4 days thenSalzburg 1-2 nights Austria to Ljubljana for 5 days Slovenia then to Croatia. So when we get to Croatia we dont want to move around except for maybe e a day trip here or there. At that point in our trip we want a beach vacation. we love small towns. Good food, nice beaches. We dont care about night life . Someplace where we can get to a few other sights from easily. We are thinking Hvar or Brac. Can anyone suggest a beautiful place to park it for a week where we will have enough town to keep us happy? We will also go tp the national park and Dubrovnik for 2 days each outside of the week at a hub.
thanks

Andrew

Others have a lot more experience than I do, but I was quite happy in Rovinj for 5 nights last September. Beach access and any number of interesting drives for partial day trips if you wanted. Just another thought.

Hvar is a good choice. Stay in Hvar Town- there’s plenty to see including Hvar’s hilltop castle ruins. You can catch the bus one day to Stari Grad- one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns on earth where they keep uncovering Roman artifacts. By a one-hour catamaran, you can also easily see Diocletian’s Palace in Split as a daytrip.

Is the other post about Korcula just a feeler, or have you decided on Korcula?
Where are you flying home from?
Are you referring to Plitvice park, and is that a must?
Do you want to see Dubrovnik for sure, or would you be content with a stay in the north--I would maximize my time and rent a car and explore Istria.

Rovijn is too far up north. Korcula town is small enough to not overwhelm. There are beaches there and you can take a short ferry ride to neighboring islands for a beach day. Vrnik is our favorite, about 25 people live there year round. The old school building was converted into a hotel with a cafe or you can bring a picnic lunch. No public bathrooms on the island, only at the cafe. We haven’t been to Hvar but it is very popular.

I like Hvar but I wouldn’t stay in Hvar town (much too noisy) - I prefer Stari Grad or Jelsa on the north of the island. The beaches are better here too and the food and drink is about half that of Hvar town.

The best of both worlds. Hvar town is 30 minutes away by bus for a day trip. You can take a small local boat from SG to Brac that leaves at breakfast time and returns around 5 pm. The SG Plain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - good for walks.

The excellent konobas (restaurants) in Dol and Vrisnik just inland produce their own cheese, wine and wild boor produce.
