Mostar?

Is Mostar worth the day trip from Dubrovnik or is there somewhere/something else you would recommend?

Good to know. Hmmm...maybe shorten Dub up from three to two nights and stay there. Would need to get from Mostar to Korcula. Anyone know the quickest way to do that? See many different options when I search but no clear cut. Willing to rent a driver to the ferry.

I was on a RS tour to Mostar so my experience is probably quite different than a traveler without a local guide. I very much enjoyed Mostar, but mostly because of the local guide and his expertise and experience of being a refugee in Mostar. I know I would not have had the same experience independently.

In October we went from Dubrovnik to Mostar for 2 nights 3 days driving in a rental car then to Hvar on the day of departure

For me, your question is a bit tough in relation to choosing between more time in Dubrovnik or a night in Mostar. Mostar is pretty cool but it’s likely a 2.5-3 hour drive one way. It’s a hard question because 2 nights totally doesn’t do Dubrovnik credit imo

Have a look at pictures and watch some YouTube videos and decide if it’s worth it for you. For me it exceeded what I imagined it as and I had watched many YouTubers as well as multiple RS tours go through it before I went. Really all that Mostar is as far as a 1 day trip is concerned is the old town, which can be easilly mostly walked in half to three quarters of a day imo

Your question about getting to Korcula, from Mostar we went to Hvar and drove directly from Mostar to Drevnik where there was a short ferry across to Hvar

In your situation, going to Korcula it looks like the ferry leaving from Ploce may be an option

The islands are something you 10000% want a car for. There are so many amazing beaches and spots to check out which is virtually impossible using transit, taxi’s or the ATV’s etc. they rent on these islands. In Hvar, albeit we were there for a 6 nights, we would just find beautiful beaches on google maps and drive to them, it was amazing

It is all very subjective, but part of my opinion would depend on when you arrive in Dubrovnik. 2 nights only equals one full day, unless you arrive early morning. I don’t think rushing through Dubrovnik only to rush through Mostar is an improvement.

I DID stay for one overnight in Mostar after driving from Dubrovnik - after 3 nights there. I had nearly 3 full days in Dubrovnik, which satisfied me. The one overnight in Mostar did not and I will be back for 3 nights in the fall.

thanks for the feedback. Yes, still struggling on if the overnight or even day trip is worth it. I am currently contemplating one of three options:

1) Roundtrip one day with private driver to Kravice and Mostar.

2). One way with private drive to Kravice and Mostar. Ovenight in Mostar and then private driver to Orebic with stops in Peljesac and Ston. Catch ferry to Korcula

3). Don't do Mostar and find another day excursion from Dubrovnik.

Currently, have three nights in Dubrovnik. Land late morning on so in essence have almost three full days. If I do the overnight in Mostar than I would have one and half days in Dubrovnik.

I guess these are good decisions that I need to make.

From Dubrovnik harbour, and also from the old town there are numerous boat tours which go to to the blue cave, and other surrounding islands etc. their “3 island tour”

We did one of the 3 island tours from Dubrovnik harbour and it was pretty stellar. Lopud has a sandy beach “Sunj” which was a highlight for us in Dubrovnik. We grabbed beers from a local vendor and spent the whole 4-5 hours on the sandy beach there it was fantastic. The two other islands are smaller and have less going on but still cool to check out. A tour like this takes all day so that could be another option to consider for the extra day in Dubrovnik
