Mljet National Park

Has anyone been to this island park? We thought it might be a good way to end our trip after being in Dubrovnik for a couple of days...
Any advice?

Yes, we absolutely loved Mljet! We visited on a day trip from Korcula. There is so much to do there- cycling, kayaking, swimming, just walking around. It's a beautiful place for outdoor activities.

Thank you for your reply.
What time of year did you go? We're having difficulty booking a boat that can get us there this October.

We visited in late August, when all the seasonal ferries are running, and took Krilo Star there and back. I think a lot of the seasonal ferries stop running in early October, but there should still be some for people who live on the islands.

It looks like the only way we can visit is to stay overnight and our schedule does not allow this. We'll just have to plan something else to do with our extra free day.

Thanks

Sorry I assumed you were looking for an overnight. There still be something private you could do, try contacting the tourist office. As an alternative, look into Elafiti island excursions, and if all else fails, a sunny afternoon on Lokrum might be nice.

You could consider a visit to Lokrum if you need something to do- it's a small island just off Dubrovnik. It's such a short boat ride I would think they'd still be offering trips in October. They did some Game of Thrones filming there (House of the Undying).

The trip to tgr park is what it is and you know because you researched it.

Now research Dubrovnik and every other place you are interested in visiting. One good indicator might be restaurants. Call 2 or 4 that are highly recommended at each stop and ask when they close for the season. That might be an indicator as to how empty the streets might be. I would call the Balkan guide I know, or another, and ask her to do the research and plan the trip based on what is open and active.

Mostar might be hopping or maybe Tivat? I don't know. I've been to Sarajevo in October ... pretty sweet.
