I'm considering staying on Mljet island for 2 nights en route from Dubrovnik to Korcula. I won't have a car and I don't want to rent a bike. For the sake of the discussion, if I'm arriving at either Sobra or Polace by ferry from Dubrovnik, are there any nice, sandy, shallow water beaches near either village? I would like to be able to get off the ferry and be able to walk to my accommodations and then hit the beach without much time invested. I looked at one hotel that was described as "beachfront" but there wasn't a sandy beach, just some concrete that you can dive from. I don't dive. I cannot swim in deep water so I need a shallow, sandy beach.
I read about Saplunara but I would rather have to take a bus to get to a beach. I also read it's a little quieter than other beaches and for a number of reasons, I would rather not swim at a secluded beach (one being that I'm not a good swimmer). I read about swimming in the lakes but that doesn't interest me.
If this type of beach doesn't exist at Mljet, I may not bother going there and try Lopud instead but as far as I know, I can't get to Korcula directly from Lopud so it will be logistically less convenient.
