We are a couple traveling Oct 9, 2024 from Split-Korcula, and Oct 11, 2024 Korcula-Dubrovnik. We'd like to pre-book/purchase via the Krilo ferry/catamaran website. They say on their website (as do the other catamaran companies) that there is a 23kg luggage weight restriction per traveler unless the crew has room in which case they'll allow the extra weight. We will very likely have more than 23kg each, even though we'll only have two small pieces of luggage each. My question is: does anyone know whether they really weigh the luggage or enforce this rule? Or, given it is late in the season, does anyone see that this is going to be a problem? I've tried e-mailing the company directly with no response. Thank you for any advice.
I have taken several catamarans but never noticed anyone checking--tell us what exactly you will have with you. I really would not think that anything short of a steamer trunk would attract much notice.
If it is something you can manage yourselves (i.e., one rolling bag, one personal bag like a backpack) I would not worry about it.
As above, the Krilo Catamaran doesn’t care what luggage you bring with regard to number of items, weight or size.
I have ridden a few times and never seen it be an issue. They definitely don’t weigh. It helps to be able to manage your own luggage on and off - sometimes the ramp is steep.
We have also been on the ferries quite often in Croatia. Never have we seen anyone weigh luggage. In fact my SIL and neice had 3 large, heavy suitcases from Korčula to Split. The workers actually helped them with their luggage, not a word in English or Croatian.
