Luftansa

Does anyone have experience with flying in premium economy and if it is worth the extra cost?
We are debating on upgrading on our longer legs (Boston to Munich)

At 6-2, any addition space is appreciated. I suppose it depends a little bit on then price to up grade but I would probably do it. But we work very hard to get into business class.

We always fly out of Boston and the majority of our trips have been in premium economy. This would depend on the price difference but for $200-$300'ish apiece I would do it. I appreciate the smaller cabin area and a little more space. For $400 or more apiece I would probably have to give it more thought and see what was open in economy. I would not pay for premium economy if we had to be in the middle, only on the sides with a two seat row.

We are also looking at premium economy on Luftansa from Seattle to Rome. Cost today is about 653 dollars per traveler, round trip, over economy.

Unfortunately, Luftansa has not released the seat map from my flight and they tell me I can’t upgrade until check-in, which is 24 hours prior to flying!

Last fall, my husband and I flew Lufthansa RT Seattle to Frankfurt in Premium Economy. We had two seats together (alone) on the side. The extra room, dedicated overhead for our carry-ons and smaller, quieter cabin were totally worth the extra dollars. Not sure how I’d feel about ending up in the three across middle section with a “neighbor”. We took advantage of the lounge in Seattle as well (we had to pay a fee but it was discounted).

I think it’s definitely worth the price. However I fly longer trips to Europe from the west coast. I could not do an 11 hour flight without going to premium economy. Economy is way too claustrophobic for me, though I’ll tolerate economy on shorter flights within the US. I have found Lufthansa’s premium economy to be the better than other airlines I have flown.
