Itinerary now revised and shortened to 4 nights in Dubrovnik, 3 nights in Hvar and 2 nights in Trogir. Looking for recommendations of 4-5 star places to stay. Prefer boutique hotel, bed and breakfast or apartment with kitchen facilities. Do not like hotels that have conference facilities, meeting rooms, etc. Room must have water views (with balcony preferred) and swimming either in pool or on beach. Do not want to be directly in town for Dubrovnik or Hvar - 10-20 minute walk is fine. Welcome your suggestions! Thanks all.

We decided to spend the night in old town Dubrovnik. But during my search, I found some great places on VRBO that are right on the beach. You can start there since you are there for 4 nights. There were several that were just outside of town.

Dubrovnik - Villa Adriatica - this location is above a bakery so you get great aromas in the morning ! There is an expansive balcony that overlooks the harbor and it is situated right outside the side gate of the walled city. We walked everywhere, even the 20 minutes out to St. Jacobs Beach - it was isolated and delightful. We took a kayak trip - just walk out to Banje Beach outside the hotel and find little kayak stands on the beach.
Hvar - Olive Tree Apartments - we had a great balcony for wine drinking that overlooked the harbor. It was just steps down to Hvar Town.

Thanks Carla. These look lovely. We're all booked at this point but I just broke my leg skiing so not sure we're even going to make the trip (now that everything is booked!). Will have to wait a few months and see how I heal. So these places are good to know about in case things need to change. Appreciate your input.
