Ljubljana to Pula- how?

Hi, we're hoping to get from Ljubljana to Pula in early April, hopefully for a day trip to check out the ruins. Is this possible and how should we go about it? Or should we add a second city from which to visit Pula/
Thank you

That route is served by train/bus combo with two connections, only once per day. The once daily train Ljubljana-Divaca is later and does not match up with the trains to Pula. How to Look Up Train Schedules and Routes Online gives you the DB train schedule link and tips for using it.

I would recommend renting a car and driving to Piran, which is in Slovenia. Piran is a lovely Venetian coastal village and is exceptionally beautiful. Getting to Pula (which I really like, by the way) as a day trip would be tight as you would need to go through border control, which can get quite congested.
