KrKa National Park or Plitvice Lakes

We are a family of 5 travelling to Croatia for 12 days, 11 nights, we have 2 nights in Dubrovnik, 3 nights on Korcula (we will be hiring car after this) and at the end we have 4 nights on the Istrian Peninsula visiting family in Pula, we have 2 nights after Korcula unaccounted for and would like to visit either Krka NP or Plitvice Lakes and can't choose. From what I have read that are both spectacular if you anyone had a choice which one would pick? Thank you

We visited both in September and, you're right, they're both spectacular. Plitvice has more walking paths and we felt they were more interconnected. We spent about 5 hours there even though the lower paths were closed due to too much water from recent rains. We spent about 3 hours at Krka and only saw the area of Skradinski buk. Krka is close to the towns of Sibenik and Trogir (if you choose Krka, Trogir is a great medieval town to spend 2 nights) which you can visit. Plitvice is near Rastoke a small town with watermills and waterfalls coming from under houses. As you might notice, we can't really pick one over the other. Each park has its own personality and we loved them both. Hope this info has not muddied the waters. Whichever you choose you really can't go wrong.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Krka during July a few years back. It was extremely hot, 95 degrees or so......which made the waterfalls and the shade along the boardwalk paths a welcome sight. They charged to use the bathrooms just to change our clothes, so we opted (like everyone else), to change on the beach (behind a towel). Besides, when would these people ever see us again??!! While visiting the park, we stayed in Trogir, which was an unbelievably great visit! There was plenty to see and the town was quaint with a nice outdoor market with local fare. Wines, cheese, olive oil, etc. This summer we are going to visit Plitvice and hear it is just as spectacular!
