We are heading on a last minute trip to Croatia this week and will be spending most of our time in Istria. We have two+ days after our visit to Plitvice before we have to head to Trieste for our flight home. We can’t decide where to spend these two days. Any thoughts on Krk or Zadar in the off season? Thanks.

I can't speak to the off season aspect, but I can make an educated guess that it wold matter little in Zadar and Zagreb. Krk will be quiet but I would still consider it. I would pick somewhere that is sort of on the way to where you are headed. good luck!

I personally prefer Zadar and Krk to Zagreb. It's a bit more out of the way to return to Trieste from there than Zagreb, but I think you'll enjoy it.

Zadar is nice for one day. Krk really doesn’t have anything but rock beaches. We like Zagreb over the other 2 places.
Why not visit a city in Slovenia such as Piran.
