Korcula - Stopover Mljet - Dubrovnik Possible?

Hey everyone, is anyone able to advise on whether it is possible to do a stopover on Mljet National Park for a few hours on the way to Dubrovnik? Here's my overall plan:

Following check out in Korcula, I was thinking of going to Mljet via the 10.30am ferry (Krilo), stopping in Pomena. Then I would store my luggage (any idea where I can do so?), go for a walk around the national park until the ferry to Dubrovnik leaves Polace at 4.55pm - is there any easy way for me to get from Pomena, with my luggage, to Polace? I note that it is a 40min walk from Pomena to Polace, but it appears that Polace is not the port that the ferry from Korcula stops at, so is there perhaps a taxi I could take, and do you know how much that costs approximately?

Not sure if this is a possible plan, but it would be a lot more 'on the way' for my itinerary! My mother and I are not huge beach people as we're pretty allergic to the sun, plus I can't swim so the whole relaxing in water thing really isn't my preference - I'm looking for more nice nature walks which only take a few hours.

Well, you’ve done your homework and I think you see it correctly. It’s possible, but not at all simple or easy. At least, I felt the same way when I was trying to plan a stop there. Considering you’re not spending time in the water, I think it’s a heck of a lot of work for a hike, and a long day to boot.

Not knowing what the rest of your itinerary looks like, the island of Lokrum in Dubrovnik fits your nature hike bill. My hot take is the Dalmatian coast is pretty similar terrain and feels pristine. I’ve yet to see anyone here really make a strong case for Mljet even setting aside the complicated logistics.

We loved Mljet and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Croatia. The way we visited was as a day trip from Korcula (out and back on the Krilo Star). The next morning we were back on the Krilo Star to take it all the way to Dubrovnik where we stayed for a few more days to finish our trip. I think this is easier than trying to stop over for the day and you don't have to worry about luggage etc. At least when we went, I didn't see anywhere to store luggage by the ferry dock.
