We are putitng our car on the ferry in Split and headed to the island of Korcula. So, which town to stay in...Korcula or Vela Luka? We are looking for good sea food and history.... not a party...Any reccos of a specific hotel or? Thanks!
We just made a reservation for Guest House Jungher in Korčula. We stayed there a few years ago. They have a great location in the old town, nice B&B, the owners' English is limited but his son speaksEnglish. In fact, the son owns a small cafe in town. Very nice people. You have to book through booking.com
Thanks...I'll take a look!
Korcula was OUR favorite place in Croatia. I am smiling just thinking about it. We stayed at Leut Apt. We rented through AirBNB. It was delightful, clean and in a great area. Great sea food along the city wall. We took the Korcula Explorer for the day and had a great time. Are you going in the summer. We went to the Moreska Sword Dance and enjoyed it. Have fun!
I guess I would ask a bit more....
Where will the ferry come in to? For a car ferry I think it is Vela Luka? So really you can stay anywhere. The thing I would look for is a place with parking. Certainly the Old Town in Korcula town is great, but with a car, maybe not the best spot, if only for parking. You can probably find a little place along a shore accessible only by car that might be much better, you can always day trip into the old town, or hit it as you are leaving the island, since that would be the ferry to Orebic or a much longer ferry to Dubrovnik.
I didn't have a car in Korcula. I stayed in Korcula Town, a charming little town for sure. I liked being able to walk to stores and restaurants for meals vs. having to drive in - just a personal preference. You could park your car near the old town I'm pretty sure.
I didn't make it to Vela Luka so can't compare.
