Just completed the RS Adraitic tour

I am now in Dubrovnik, Had an excellent time. Slovenia, Bosiinia and Croatia was a learning experience and lots of fun. Warm weather, hardly used my fleece over here.

It's off to a week long sea kayaking adventure on the island of Lopud outside of Dubrovnik with Huck Finn adventure , will report back.

We just spent two weeks in May doing a trip on our own with a similar itinerary to the RS Adriatic tour and loved it all. We did two kayak day trips and hope to go back one day for a week long trip, so we look forward to hearing about your trip with Huck Finn Adventure.

The Kayaking on Lopud Island with Huck Finn was great but there were a few days where the weather wasn't so great. The winds and rain started coming into play in October. Next time I will stay within the month of September for better weather which will mean better kayaking.

Hope that helps,
Liam

How did you like Huck Finn? Wondering how you like the accommodations, food, and weather-aside, how were the activities? Was there quality equipment and guides?

Huck Finn Guide was great, kayaks and gear were OK. No rudders on the kayaks. Accomodations were nice with wifi, It was a house on Lopud Island divided into apartments. Meals were ok, not exceptional like on a Rick Steves tour. If you are an experienced kayaker Huck Finn is a good company for the price. For the inexperienced people there wasn's a lot of instruction on the beach. The tandom kayaks are very stable and no one capsized. Most of the inexperienced people went in the tandom kayaks for the stability. First day we had 3 to 4 foot breaking seas due to the wind.

Kayaked to the two other islands in the Elafiti island chain, Sipan and Kolcep which were great. Great restaurants.
Its really all about the weather. September was great and calm, October, the weather really started to turn with a lot more wind and rain on some days. Stick with September at the latest and you will have a great time.
We didnt kayak around the walls of Dubrovnik since we were based on the Island of Lopud, you can rent kayaks by the day in Dubrovnik for that.
It was a great experience I would do it again but earlier in September.

We are planning a month long trip in 2017 from mid-Sept to mid-October. We are hoping to do 1 - 1.5 weeks in Slovenia and northern Croatia and then are meeting family in Rome, doing southern Italy and southern Croatia from the last week of Sept to mid-October. After reading the posts about the weather changing in October, do we need to be concerned about our time in southern Croatia being "ruined" by the weather?

Hi Cheryl,
Bring a sweater, rain jacket and umbrella and you will be fine. My month long trip was from Sept 13 thru Oct 13. From Oct 2 thru the 13th it was on and off showers, some great days some not so great. I don't think the weather will ruin your trip unless you expect it to be sunny and warm every day.
