Hi, 3 adults traveling from Split, looking to spend a couple of nights on a island 20/21 of this September, before a going to Dubrovnik. Having a hard time making our minds up. Any suggestions or preferences? We had thought about kayaking at some point (weather permitting)...
I've stayed in Hvar town in the later part of September. Weather was still nice, party crowds were gone and the cost of my small apartment was very reasonable. I didn't look into kayaking, but Hvar town strikes me as a place where that kind of activity might be available. Hopefully those who've stayed on other islands that time of year will weigh in with their experiences.
Edit: To clarifying my comment on kayaking, Hvar town seems like a place where you could book a kayaking excursion that would likely to take place somewhere other than the busy harbor adjoining town.
The islands of Hvar and Korcula are the most obvious between Split and Dubrovnik. I prefer Stari Grad to Hvar town. There are many, many boats around the harbour in Hvar town, which would make kayaking a challenge. The best kayaking I have seen in this area is the gorge inland from Omis on the mainland.
Thank you for your replies. Do the apartments have more than 1 bedroom? If so would you mind sharing the name?
