My family is flying to Split via Frankfurt next week. Does anyone know if we’ll need to retrieve our luggage, clear customs and immigration before boarding our connecting flight? Or will that happen at our final destination? I’m just trying to determine how tight our layover will be. It looks like both airlines (United and Croatia Airlines) operate out of the same terminal, and we have a 2.5 hour layover.

You will need to clear Immigration (Passport Control) in Frankfurt. You will clear Customs in Croatia. Assuming your flights are both on one ticket, your luggage should be checked through to your final destination. If the flights are separately ticketed, you will have to collect your luggage, exit the secure area and check in with your next airline, then go back through security to your next gate. 2.5 hours should be ample if you are on one ticket.
