Hvar to Dbrovink-best 3 day itinerary

I'll have a few days between Hvar and my flight out of Dubrovnik Oct. 7th. I have 2 nights on Hvar (Oct 1 and 2) and then would like the best option for getting to Dubrovnik by the 6th so I can spend 1 night there and 2 full days. My flight departs 10/7 at 9:00 pm. That leaves me with Oct. 3, 4, 5 open.

Should I go to Split for 1 day and Korcula for 2? Any better ideas? I'm on my own without a car so thought I'd island hop using the catamarans.
Thanks for any and all suggestions!

One thing you need to be sure you are aware of is that ferry schedules are reduced outside peak summer months. So check ahead to make sure whatever you decide to do will work with October schedules. Some options may be limited.

You don't say where else you're going on this trip, so it's hard to say where you should go after your two nights on Hvar. How are you getting to Hvar? Most people get there by ferry from Split, so will you have already been to Split?

I think a couple of nights in Korcula is a fine idea. You could also get to Dubrovnik early and take a day trip from there to Mostar. I think that would be my top choice. A day trip to the Bay of Kotor area in Montenegro is also an option. There are organized tours, or you can hire a private driver/guide if that fits your budget.

If you haven't seen Split and Trogir, I would head here with your time. Plitvice is another possible day trip from here.

October is likely to be very quiet on the islands as many cafes etc close at the end of September.

You need to be cautious with the catamarans - they were cancelled a couple of days this week due to the weather.

To Lane:

I will have been in Istria for 1 week and am headed straight to Hvar for 2 nights from Vrsar. I didn't realize I need to worry about the catamarans in October. They have tickets available online for the dates I want to travel. I have to get to Dubrovnik as I fly out of there and I really want to see it. I was debating whether to do Split or spend more time on Korcula or Dubrovnik.

I also live in Seattle. Are you from Croatia or have you just visited there often?

Jennifer, I live in Seattle, and I visited Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia for three weeks in May 2014.

You say you're going directly from Istria to Hvar. How are you getting there?

I assume your driver will drive you to Split and drop you at the ferry. So if Split is a place you want to visit, you could stay there a day before you take the ferry to Hvar.
