Hvar - recommendations on where to stay

Hello, we are planning to stay 2 nights (maybe 3) in Hvar. Thinking of staying in Stari Grad as I've read it's quieter/more relaxed town but open to suggestions. Any recommendations on where to stay? We'll mostly stay at the beach and play/swim in the water, but looking into touring Hvar as well.

Thanks in advance!

We stayed at Hotel Podstine. It's a little bit out of the main town of Hvar, so it's quiet and relaxed and has its own "beach" (many beaches in Croatia are cement or stone, and this is no exception). It also has a pool, a restaurant and a more casual pub/cafe. Breakfasts are included. The hotel has its own dock, and tours to the Blue Cave will pick you up right there.

Villa Hosta Apartments are on quiet Amfora Beach just a 15-minute walk from Hvar Town’s bars & clubs The hosts are a Croatian/Italian family who rent four apartments on their beautiful property which was one of the very first places to welcome visitors to Hvar.
The four nostalgic apartments are often booked up because it’s fantastically located on a beautiful beach where you can really relax.

In Hvar Town - Ivanka Ivanovic - RS recommended. 5 apts (some with view), quiet, very nice. Great Hosts. Space for car. Easy walk into Old Town. Try Alviz restaurant near the bus station in old town for past1cada (stew) - really good! In 2013, we liked Hvar Town better than Stari-Grad.
