Hvar Day trip or few nights?

Hi:

Question we are planning a trip to Croatia in September and I was reading Hvar is great for beaches and nightlife (We don't do beaches or party). Just wondering if anyone recommends just a day trip from Spit or does it warrant a few nights? We will also be doing Split and Dubrovnik and possibly 1 more place if we don't do Hvar as overnight. Overall trip looking at 11-13 nights. If we don't do Hvar as overnight I may add Zagreb or Rovinj (I know its far so not sure)

Thanks

Hvar town is lovely even if you are not interested in partying or beaches. Could you share your entry and departure points?
If you are traveling between Split and Dubrovnik, it can make sense to stop for at least an overnight on the catamaran, but you have several islands to choose from besides Hvar (Brac, Vis, Korcula)--it just depends on your interests. It helps to share how you already have your days allotted so we can see what appeals to you and how long you like to linger.

Thanks for your response. We will be traveling from Newark, NJ so I think we will arrive and depart from Dubrovnik since direct flights. (However flexible so not set in stone could always leave out of Split or Zagreb with layover) Itinerary is up in the air. Will probably do 4 nights in Dubrovnik (or 5 since the cost is same using my hotel points). From Dubrovnik was thinking ferry to Split but up for suggestions. We like old towns and cool villages, etc. We are in our 50s so party days are over. We have been to Europe many times. We can do day trips as well from both Dubrovnik and Split if time allows based on suggestions

Thanks

If early to mid September (and probably even late September but weather can start to change), I would recommend an island stay, it's a lovely time to be there. The beaches are rocky so it's a unique experience--gorgeous scenery and clear water. They all have a basic similarity but of course read up on each one to see what vibe appeals--Mljet is mostly national park, Lastovo is very quiet, Korcula puts you close to the mainland for day trips, etc. If it is not your thing, no owrries, teh mainland has a lot of appeal too, you could stop en route at Mostar in Bosnia, or stop at Makarska for hiking.
Good luck!
See schedules on the Krilo and Jadrolinija websites, but make sure to distinguish between catamaran (passenger only) if you intend to rent a car (Jadrolinija has the car ferries).

I would definitely recommend at least an overnight on one of the islands - ideally a few days. I stayed on Hvar & Korcula and liked both of them.

Thank you Jean. Appreciate the tip. Sounds good. Will probably do Dubrovnik, Split and choose between Korcula and Hvar. If we do Korcula we could always do a ay trip from Split to Hvar.

Perhaps following possible itinerary

Dubrovnik--4 or 5 nights
Split---4 or 5 nights as a base with day trip to Hvar
Korcula--3 nights
