My maternal grandparents (both long deceased) were both from Croatia. They were the only ones from their families that immigrated to the U.S. Their siblings stayed in Croatia, but we do not have much information on them or their children who would be my cousins. We are pretty sure they were from the Dubrovnik area and possibly Ston. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could locate family members? Thanks.
Oh how fun! Have you used Ancestry.com before? My mom uses it.
There are many resources online to help you get started, such as https:/familysearch.org/wiki/en/Croatia_Genealogy and http://www.croatian-genealogy.com/
There are services that can help you also, but see what you can do yourself first. Google "finding croatia relatives" and you will get a start.
I would also not hesitate to contact the local tourist office to ask for information. It may depend on how common the name is, how much information you have, but what a wonderful adventure. I hope it results in a rewarding trip and family reunion!
