Hotels Recommendations Split and Dubrovnik

Hello:

We are planning a trip for 2026 and I'm seeking hotel suggestions for 2 adults) in Split and Dubrovnik. (We prefer central locations). Anyone have any recommendations?

Yours Truly

Dubrovnik Gardens is often mentioned and tough to beat. I would suggest reaching out to any old town Dubrovnik apartments/sobe as soon as possible, especially for high season. Back in 2023, the owner of Dubrovnik Gardens was booking stuff almost a year ahead.

I stayed in BASE Rooms in Split. Though a little small, it’s smack dab in the middle of things. It was very insulated against the noise. The AC was stellar. It was well appointed and a good price.

We have stayed at Dubrovnik Gardens. Try and book their Palace Apartment #3. It is very large and has a full kitchen.
Also try Andio B+B or Pavisa Apartments. We have stayed in all 3 places, at least 2x each.

In Split we always stay at Hotel Peristil, right inside the palace. No elevator but they bring our bags up and down. Small, family owned, lovely breakfast off a menu and they have a nice restaurant for dinner.
We were never disappointed after 3 stays.

We just got back from Croatia and stayed at Palace Suites Heritage Hotel in Split. It is located just outside of Diocletian's Palace western gate. We enjoyed our stay here. In Dubrovnik we splurged and stayed at Sea Rocks Residence. It has only 6 rooms and while there isn't a restaurant, there is a 24 hour lounge area where you can get coffee, snacks, fruit, juices, waters. It is located just outside the Pile Gate. It was a wonderful place to stay.

We stayed at Karmen apartments in Dubrovnik. Located just inside the walls. Excellent location. Very easy to walk to. You don’t have to climb any stairs to get to the building itself.

Hi! This is not a hotel suggestion for Split but an Airbnb that we stayed in this September. It is located just inside the city walls. We were very happy with our choice. Golden Palace Apartment

I've been in 2 hotels in Split and wasnt impressed. Sorry. No help. But in Dubrovnik, I have stayed here twice and would do it again. https://villasigurata.com/ As it's the only place I have stayed other than a rather questionable AirBnb right outside the gate, I can't say its the best, but I liked it.

I stayed in Split, Dubrovnik and Cavtat on a recent trip. Cavtat was by far the best.
Split and Dubrovnik were noisy and very touristy. Cavtat was quiet and lovely.
Best of all, Cavtat is close enough to Dubrovnik that you can take a shuttle boat in and out.
And it's closer to the Dubrovnik airport!
The place I stayed was called the Bačan Serviced Apartments. Very good price, too!

i will be visiting Dubrovnik at the end of March. I would like to stay in the old city center but I am concerned about my luggage. I have a problem arm from an accident and I am 76 years old. I understand that you can not have a taxi driver let you off in front of your hotel/apartment/Airbnb if it is located in the old town. Is it possible that you can recommend a wonderful place inside the city center that is a quick easy walk to my accomodations? Also, just a few stairs to get into the hotel/apartment.
Thank you,
Merle
