Another question, any recommendations for hotels in the old town, central. Will likely be there for 2 fulls days, possibly 3 and would prefer to be in the centre of things. Daughter has mentioned a beach experience, but would there be such a thing I late April, early May. I’m thinking more central?
We stayed at Karmen Apartments in the old town. Location is excellent, right next to the walls. And about a 5-minute walk from Ploce Gate. The owner and his family live on the upper floors, so it was very nice and helpful to have him in the same building. There are only 4 apartments.
We were there in September when it was still very warm and summer-like and people were swimming. We have friends who visited Croatia and Slovenia in late April/early May. It was cool in southern Croatia, definitely not beach weather. And rainy and chilly in northern Croatia and Slovenia.
Hi Judy, There’s a guesthouse inside Dubrovnik’s walls called “ Rooms Vicelic” with a Croatian family hosting visitors in their house with four guest rooms.
Rates from $70, it’s rated high and is a great place to stay within the old city. Listed on Trivago, Booking. com, Hotels.com and VRBO.
there are 2 places in Rick’s book which we have stayed at - Apartments Paviša 2x and Dubrovnik Garden Cottage 1x. Garden Cottage has 3 different rentals and the owner lives on the premises. But we have also stayed at B&B Andio which is right off the stradun (Main Street). B&B Andio gets booked up quickly, you can find them on booking.com. They are always our first choice.
Thanks all, we did book Karmen Apartments ( reviews to follow). They were actually the only place to respond to our emails. Have had some interaction with the owners and I feel ,it’s going to be a good fit for our few days in Dubrovnik!
Judy, I am sure you will enjoy your stay at Karmen Apartments. The location is excellent, the owner is very nice, and our apartment was charming and it was nice to have the extra space.
I have swam in late May, but it was a challenge--the sea warms in June. You daughter can still enjoy the seaside though--like having drinks at Buza, which is built into the wall.
water will be cold. your daughter may enjoy Buza Bar - esp closer to sunset!
