Has anyone stayed here? It looks really good on TripAdvisor
This hotel was once in the Relais et Chateaux collection of unique, high end hotels. It still looks like it, and closes for the winters. The historic architecture inside - think Venetian palazzo - is beautiful. Attended a flute concert there last September. Friendly staff. There are comments on Tripadvisor about the, quote, 'electric troll' taking time to find people in the vast public parking lot at the entrance to Rovinj on the right, but anyone with a rolling suitcase can simply enjoy a walk from there along the harbour, through the market, up the alley by the wine bar and Bosnian carpets/craft store, in about ten minutes. Only the last 4 minutes along the cobbled Svalba street will be bumpy, but you will get a sense of old Rovinj. If you like historic settings, and want to be in the heart of the old town, and can afford it, this would be a good location. It is in a narrow street, so some people noise at night, but not like the loud music and crowds that can mar other Rovinj hotels near the central piazza. I like to walk along Svalba to the top of the old town, and go for a coffee at the XXL cafe hidden below Sveta Eufemia in the old churchyard overlooking the sea. Was in Rovinj last June and September, both best times to visit. If the price of this hotel looks too steep, consider Booking.com and AirBnB which both list private apartments, some stunning, in the old town owned by locals. Or one of the many very modern hotels Rovinj is now famous for. But stay close to the old town for mood.
Thanks so much for your reply. I booked this hotel on booking. Com for 200 a night. Electric troll??
