Help with Croatia itinerary

Hello,
We plan our first trip to Croatia. Our dates are fixed: arriving in Split on Sept 17 and departing from Dubrovnik on Sept 28. We do not plan to keep rental car continuously during the trip but can do day rental if needed. We prefer to reduce packing/unpacking and qty of transfers during the trip. We also want to spend a few half days on beaches.
So far this is the plan:
3 nights in Split
4 nights in Korchula
4 nights in Dubrovnik

Is 4 nights in Dubrovnik too much?. We secured an AirBB in a quiet area 10 minutes walk from the old town. I know that Dubrovnik is crowded and expensive.
Any ideas on how to optimize our itinerary will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dimitry

It really depends on what you want to see and any day trips you plan on taking.
You can take boat trips out of Korcula, or rent bikes, scooter, or car to get to some of the more impressive beaches (often coves you need to scramble down into).

Your itinerary looks nice and relaxing and the weather should be good. There is a water taxi in Korcula that makes a fun day, especially if you like beaches. You could also do a day trip to Mljet from Korcula. There are day trips to small islands from Dubrovnik, so 4 nights there is fine. We were there in September a few years ago and it was only very crowded when the cruise ships were visiting.

You know, a Croatia itinerary really can be this simple. You’ll have a great time. Dubrovnik has a lot of options for day trip tours and excursions, four nights will be fine. Since you’re staying on the coast, I would not worry about renting a car unless you wanted to see Plitvice or something specific like that.
