Getting from Split airport to lodging in Split

Hello,
We will be visiting Split this August and I'm wondering what the best way to get from the airport to our lodging in Split? I saw there is an airport bus but I don't see any information on what to do with our luggage. We don't have much but it is more than just a backpack each.

Thank you for your help!

You take bus 37 from where it stops about 5 minutes from the airport exit. Bus 37 goes all the way to downtown Split, about a fifteen- minute walk to Diocletian’s Palace. You can take your luggage on the bus, but you’ll need to schlep it onboard and when you exit the bus.

Kenko,
Are you referencing the bus found in the airport parking lot? As you exit the terminal walk down the main steps to the parking lot and the bus parks to the left of the lot. Cash required and in Kunos, a small fee but I cannot recall the amount. The bus goes directly to the port bus station which is across from the ferry docks. Exit the bus and old town Spilt is a short walk away and very easy to see from the bus parking slots.
Thanks

Is there a place on the airport bus for the luggage? We each have a carryon suitcase and large backpacks and I don't see where we would out them. They would not all fit on our laps.

Would it be better to take uber, taxi or private car tranfer? If yes, recommendations?

The bus is easy, convenient and least in expense and you will tuck your luggage in the bus luggage compartment. Here is how it works:

First, the Split airport is relatively small (single runway) and easy to navigate.

Exit the terminal and keep an eye to the left side of the parking lot seeking the typical tourist size passenger buses. There may be several buses, just walk up and ask which bus is direct service heading for the Split harbor. You will be pointed to the right bus.
The compartments under the bus will be open and you will place your luggage in them. Overhead racks are tight so recommend placing everything under the bus. Do not worry about theft! This is not that type of environment and the driver is also keeping an eye on the compartments.

I believe the cost is 40 kuna each and payable only in kuna. Be sure and exchange currency for kuna. Board the bus and the driver will come and collect the fee prior to departure. Relax for the ride is about 35 minutes depending on traffic.

The arrival station at the port is just as simple. Exit the bus, grab your luggage and head for your accommodations. Split is easy walking distance and your can cross the entire palace from east to west in less than 30 minutes. Most folks choose to walk to their destinations.

Croatians are wonderful kind folks and we greatly enjoyed our interactions with their culture.

Enjoy!

We took a taxi. I do not recall the price, but it did not make us wince. We usually treat ourselves to a cab from an airport or main train station to our lodging these days. Less stress, especially after an overseas flight.
