We will be coming for a day trip to Hvar from Split. I'd like to visit Jelsa. We dont have a car. Do buses run regularly from Hvar town to Jelsa? We will be there first week in May.
Thanks
Yes there are buses, looks like Cazmatrans Hvar operates the buses. It does not look like ferries from Split go directly to Jelsa, so yeah, you would need to get there from Hvar Town or Stari Grad.
The bus website is here: https://cazmatrans.hr/en/ but for some reason I did not have much luck using it.
Check Krilo and Jadrolinija websites for catamaran schedules to Hvar. You can also go to Stari Grad and take a short bus. It's a long bus ride to Jelsa--just curious, why Jelsa in particular?
There is a Jadrolinija catamaran that goes to Jelsa (after stopping Bol), but I don't know if the times would work out for you. If the bus does not materialize, you would have to take a taxi to Hvar (we did it once, years ago and I cannot recall the cost).
In Croatia, local tourist boards are a wealth of knowledge: https://visithvar.hr/visit-hvar/how-to-reach-hvar/
Why Jelsa? We want to go to a couple wineries in Jelsa. Looks like that's where there are quite a few.
Not stuck on that town per say , if we can get a transport to wineries somewhere else, that works too!
That’s as good a reason as any! (Thanks for satisfying my curiosity)
I only passed through, saw one of the most prettily sited campsites I’ve ever seen but little else.
There’s lots on the interwebs about Croatian wine so I’m sure you’ll find something lovely either way—enjoy!
