Fun in Dubrovnik and Montenegrin coast in the Sept rain :)

I'm planning on arriving in Dubrovnik Saturday and spending the following week exploring Dubrovnik, the southern Croatian coast, the Bay of Kotor, and the Montenegrin coast by car. I have flexibility with a car (so I can navigate around arriving/departing cruise ships in the larger ports on busy days), but you can't escape the rain!

Not a huge deal, because it looks like there's only a 1/4 inch expected on the most rainy day so it's more sprinkles and mist, but does anyone have any advice on the best activities to do while raining in these areas? Any things to particularly enjoy (grab a coffee/drink under an umbrella, watch the active waves on the coast) or avoid?

I'm a native Pacific Northwesterner so I'm not afraid of being outdoors during light rain! So if the suggestion is "carry on with your existing outdoor plans...walk the Dubrovnik walls, scale the Kotor fortress trails..." great!

Thank you!

Many people don’t seem to know but Dubrovnik has many interesting museums. Check them out for a rainy day.

We just returned from a trip to Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia. I highly recommend visiting War Photo Limited in Dubrovnik. I think all visitors to Dubrovnik should visit this museum/exhibit. There are 2 floors. On the top floor is a permanent exhibit of photos from the Balkan wars during the 1990's. Photos are sad and tragic. The receptionist gives you reading material which is helpful in understanding the Balkan Wars. On the floor where the ticket desk is located is a temporary exhibit about the Vietnam War with photos from a British photographer. I think this exhibit changes every year.

We also visited the Franciscan Monastery, and there is a Dominican Monastery. And several churches you can visit.

We enjoyed the Ethnographic Museum, with its displays on traditional life in the countryside and folk costumes. The museum about the war at the top of Mt. Srd is fascinating, if a bit heavy. Admission is 30 Kn, but the problem with its location is that the gondola ride to get there is about 170Kn and if the weather is bad, you won’t get much of a view. 200 Kn is pretty steep for what amounts to a museum ticket. (Sometimes the clouds hang so low that you can’t even see the top of Mt. Srd from the ground.) We’re here now; it rained a lot yesterday but people were still up there on the wall. I’d skip the Rector’s Palace— not much to see. Stop in on the small site honoring some of the young men killed while defending Dubrovnik in the early 1990’s. Try the restaurant Italian restaurant Segreto near the Rector’s Palace and the market. Really good and reasonably priced. Nice seating inside if it’s raining.
