Anyone have information regarding fly fishing in Croatia. We will be in Croatia mid-June and on one leg of our visit - will travel from Split to Plitvice Park by car. The Gacka River is supposed to be really good. I'm wondering about license and best stretches of the river to fish. I don't really want to hire a guide as I plan on it just being a relaxing day - maybe picnic ect...while out fishing. Any information would be appreciated.
On ocasdions we fly fish on trips to Europe. Not Croatia yet, but soon probably. We will be fly fishing in Montenegro in the early fall. What I have discovered is that legal access to the waters and licensing and permits can be tricky. I would sure do a lot of research if you dont hire a guide or you could end up with a hefty fine for poaching. Most countries have fly fishing clubs. Start there.
Ok, thanks James...will start there.
If you're going to be in Slovenia, there's marble and brown trout in the Soca river area.
