Flights from northern Ca for Croatia tour

My girlfriends and I have signed up for an August tour and are finding flight prices to be crazy going into Ljubljana and out of Dubrovnik. Has anyone found alternate routes that might help keep the cost down?
Thank you.

What airports have you checked?
Do you have time so that you could book a cheaper ticket to somewhere like London, Vienna, Munich, etc., but then book a separate low cost carrier flight (You would need to have ample time between these connections, so sometimes it is worth the extra cost to get where you need to be).
Try round trip Zagreb, as it is easy to get to the others from there, but again you'll need ample time.

Ljubljana airport is notoriously more expensive, extra taxes. Klagenfurt airport, just over the border in Austria, is an alternative. Zagreb is also not far and usually cheaper. Some people will even fly to Venice and pickup GoOpti transfer from there. There is not really an alternative for Dubrovnik.

Is that for this August? If it is, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything. I hate to be a doomsayer, but 4 months out is kind of last minute these days. Not to mention, August is the peak of peak busy season. If you’re committed, I’m afraid you’ll just have to bite the bullet and grab something before that’s gone too.

I am seeing pretty good prices on Delta/KLM from SFO (<$1200). Sticker is requires an overnight in Amsterdam on the return, not the worst problem.

What are you considering to be crazy prices? Right now out of San Francisco you’re going to be paying around $1100 as Sam said. That’s really not “crazy” for where you’re going at the height of the summer season and booking this late.

Where is your start point? Hard to suggest an 'alternate' route, not knowing what route you have chosen./priced.

What is 'crazy' flight costs?
