Flights from east coast for best of adriatic

It appears American Airlines doesn’t fly into or out of LJU or Dubrovnik ….for those of you who had the same issue where did you fly into or out of and your mode of transportation to or from those airports?

All ideas appreciated

When I took this tour several years ago, I used Lufthansa to fly Boston to LJU (with layover in MUC) and back from DBV (with layover in FRA). I believe AirFrance flies this route with layover at CDG.

We flew into Venice and took a driving transfer from Go Opti directly from the airport to the hotel in Ljubljana. Worked very well.

We are also signed up for this tour August 31 2025 and I have been looking at flights. Delta and their partners also fly in and out. We will be flying out of Atlanta so will be doing Delta/Air France through Paris and home Dubrovnik through either Paris or Amsterdam. Flights from Dubrovnik tend to be more expensive so thinking about flying to Zagreb on Croatian airlines staying two nights to explore and then fly through Amsterdam home using KLM/Delta.

No US airlines service LJU or DBV. But they can ticket you there with a
connecting flight through a hub that they serve; such as United->Lufthansa
or American->British Airways.

You can usually look at the airport website to get the info on what airlines/
flights they have. Just know that things can and do change.

I flew Easy Jet within Europe into Ljubljana and out of Dubrovnik, offsetting those flights with a day & longer at Amsterdam & London. So, my international flights were with Delta.

Also check Podgorica instead of Dubrivnik. But your question is phrased like you are checking individual Airlines. Go to Google flights and see what the options are. Then book directly with the airline that works.

You should be able to get a one-stopover flight. I've flown through Germany and Austria when going to DBV and ZAG from DC area.
What is your airport and month of travel?

We were on this tour last fall. We flew from Dulles to Zurich then Zurich to Ljubljana. We booked on United. Our layover in Zurich was about four hours so we spent 3 hours in the airside transit hotel for a shower and a two hour nap.

There’s nothing direct, they’re too far afield. I had very good luck booking through United. There were quite a few options and connections were good. I would not piecemeal the flights together yourself, just do it through the single airline. You’re unlikely to find any spectacular deals here, so find something you’re ok with and book it.

Hi,
We flew KLM to Amsterdam (direct flight from Edmonton) and on to Zagreb. After two nights in Zagreb, we took Go Opti direct to the Ljubljana hotel. Worked great. (Thanks to forum posters who recommended Go Opti.)
We did some additional travelling after the tour and flew easyJet from Split to Amsterdam, enjoyed two nights in Haarlem, and then returned home with KLM.
By the way, I’d recommend extra time in Ljubljana—great city.
Happy planning!
