Flights from DBV to Italy are so expensive! Alternatives?

Flights from Dubrovnik to anywhere in Italy (at least everywhere I've looked)
Like Rome, Florence, Milan, and even Venice are expensive:
at least $300 or near $400US AND routing is through Belgrade, Prague, or Berlin!
I see a Rome direct, nonstop, but it's $385US each. That's a lot.
I see Barcelona nonstop for $187.

Then for less than $200 I can fly nonstop from Barcelona to Florence.

Kind of wanted to go DBV to Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence
With 3 nights each.

So, maybe drop off Rome? i realize 3 nights means only two days, thats hardy enough in
barcelona? or anywhere?

I've found reasonable rates and direct flights from Dubrovnik to points in Italy on vueling.com and easyjet.com.

Be careful to understand these are low cost airlines and have very restrictive baggage allowances, with healthy penalties for being overweight or oversize.

Try Kayak.com. Just looked DBV to VCE for $270 through Barcelona....you get in early early am and depart Barcelona 730 pm....time enough to stroll the Ramblas and then head to Venice.

my bad!

I now see that Vueling only had prices posted through September 14.

I was looking at Sept 28.

Sept 14 prices were around $100 US.

We used the site "edreams" for a flight from Split to Milan. They found a return ticket that was cheaper than any one way and we just won't use the return. FYI it is on Luftansa has a stop over in Cophenhagen, when I tried to book directly with Luftansa it came up no routes available even though they list both these flights separately. Worth a try.
