We'll be on the Best of Adriatic tour which ends in Dubrovnik on Oct 31, 2026. As we're looking into flights making our way back to Philadelphia, it seems the earliest flight from Dubrovnik to Zagreb gets in at 7:35am and the flight we need to catch leaves at 8:35am. I'm guessing that's just too tight even for a small airport? Has anyone made tight connections through Zagreb or have any advice? We've done it years ago but can't recall how easy or difficult it was. We are usually very cautious about connection times and early airport arrival so this is a bit stressful. We'd usually just spend the night before in Zagreb but that would mean missing a good deal of our last tour day and the farewell dinner. Many thanks for any insight.
If this is all on one ticket, dont sweat it as the airline will take care of you one way or another. But if you are flying on seperate tickets? I think there is a very good chance you will end up buying a new ticket back the the US. If all went perfect there is a chance you would not make a one hour connection, especially if you have checked bags.
If your return flight is something you can change, I would look at doing that. Even if it costs a few hundred to do the change. Either book it from Dubrovnik or maybe Tivat or Podgorica or book it for the next day out of Zagreb and spend the night in Zagreb.
You can purchase the connection as a single ticket, so as Mr E says, you won't be left
needing to purchase a new ticket in the event of delays.
Having said that, you appear to have 3 options once you get to ZAG; either the 8:25am
connection to Paris or Amsterdam (I'd do Amsterdam), or, the 9:05 to Frankfurt. Clearly,
if your intent is to derisk the connection, you do the 9:05 to Frankfurt.
I assume you are time-constrained, but, Zagreb is worth a day, so flying there on Sat and
going the rest of the way on Sunday is an alternative.
Thanks to you both. By then we will have been in Europe for about a month and ready to get home so I was trying to save a day but I agree, it may be best to spend a day in Zagreb and fly the next morning. Thanks again!
