Hello! We would like to take a ferry from Split to Dubrovnik in early October, and we will have luggage with us. We will not be driving. Would you recommend being passengers on the car ferry or the catamaran? Is weather at that time of the year more of an issue? Are the ferry schedules decreased at that time of year? Are they dependable? Any tips about using the ferries? Good or bad experiences?

There are no ferries on that route, just catamarans. See Krilo.hr for the timetable. There are 2 routes, both of which leave early in the morning, arriving at lunchtime. The schedule reduces after the first week in October from memory and goes onto the winter timetable.
When I was last in Croatia in September, the catamaran was cancelled a couple of days due to strong winds and seas.
The service is good, but has airplane style seating.
