Ferries from Dubrovnik to Korcula

Hi there - Have been reading about ferries (and trying to interpret the schedules) from Dubrovnik to Korcula and wanted to verify whether or not we'll be able to catch one on either May 9th or May 10th - or whether we need to take a mini-van/bus to Orebic and then the ferry to Korcula?

And I see from this site http://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/catamaran-korcula.htm that there are regular catamaran ferries from Korcula to Hvar and to Split - even though this says 2014, assume it will be similar for 2015?
Appreciate the help!

The bus is, I think, a better choice and maybe easier and more dependable. You do need to get to the bus station in Dubrovnik (which required for the ferry and the port also) and the bus drops you off at the bus station in Korcula town.

The trip there is pleasant, nice scenery. In Retrospect, I probably would maybe see about spending a few hours or a night in Ston, but maybe next time.

Paul, you still need to take a ferry, Korcula is an island, there is no land connection to Dubrovnik

Yes, but the bus does it for you. The bus boards a small ferry for the short hop across and deposits you on Korcula. No change of carriers, no separate ticket, really very seamless.

Paul, don't you think the catamaran is faster - the one time We took the bus we had to get off and wait for the ferry, but the ferry took us right into Korcula Town. In fact, this past summer we hired Korkyra who drove us to Orebic and we took a private ferry they have arrangements with. since our children are grown and on their own, we have been visiting family in Dubrovnik and Korcula more often. we have never gone to Korcula the same way twice since each year we hear about a better, faster, easier, cheaper (pick one) way to get there. (We then have to go to another island called Vrnik off the coast of Korcula). we love Croatia and my husband's family, but traveling around the country is very challenging.

Although some ferries run the same schedule for years with no change, I still consider ferry service to be a relatively volatile category of transport. (They don't have to build train lines to make a change.) For instance, Jadrolinija has cancelled the big, slow, coastal car ferries that connected Rijeka, Split, Hvar, Korčula, and Dubrovnik. (Other connections between many of these places, however, are still operating.)

I guess the other attraction of the bus was that the schedule seemed a bit more normal, maybe even a couple a day? At the time we were there, the slow ferry was the only option that day, it left before the bus and arrived well after. Add to that, after many ferry rides, unless it is a short hop or the only cheap option, I avoid them now. Too many experiences with delays, cancellation, limited schedules, and rough weather.
