Favorite winery in Dalmatia?

Hi forum friends,

Does anyone have a favorite winery in Croatia or had a wonderful experience with a tour or visit? I'll be traveling to Croatia for the first time in September and would love to add a winery visit during our stay somewhere--either via a day group tour or making a short stop somewhere during our road trip as we travel south. Ideally, I'm looking for a place with a few wines to sample and beautiful views. (Bonus points if food is available to purchase too). Our list of stops is below. I've found a LOT of tour options from many of these towns, but was hoping someone had a personal suggestion!

*Sadly, we aren't going to make it to Istria this trip, so please no recommendations in that region. Thank you!

List of spots:
-Zagreb
-Plitvice Lakes
-Zadar
-Split
Friend has recommended Bibich, which is closer to Skradin. My thought is we could possibly visit on the drive from Zadar to Split. but this one seems geared more towards a fine dining experience as opposed to a quick tasting and lunch
-Hvar
-Dubrovnik

Add a trip over to Korçula to your itinerary! We had fun experience at a winery on the island of Korçula, lots of interesting choices.

Korcula has Its local vintners making Grk wine, among many other varietals. And if you take the local 15-minute ferry from Korcula Town to Orebic, you can get to the Peljesac peninsula and visit the Mikulic winery , known for its red wines and sparkling white wines.

Hi Liz,

My wife and I just returned from three weeks in Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia Hercegovina.

I would recommend stopping at "https://www.grgic-vina.com/en/" for Josip (white wine) and Plavic Mali (red wine).

The movie "Bottleshock" was based on this wine grower, Mike Grgich.

Check out this website for great wine and fresh oysters in Ston "https://www.croatiatraveller.com/southern_dalmatia/Peljesac/Peljesac.htm"

There are several wineries on Korcula island.

Safe travels,

Ed

I just wanted to send a quick note of thanks to the fellow travelers who commented on this post!

I had planned on taking the direct ferry from Hvar to Dubrovnik... but after looking at your suggestions, I've decided instead to ferry to the Peljesac peninsula and wine taste along the way to Dubrovnik. The way I see it... instead of sitting on a boat for three hours, I could be wine tasting during that time! :)

We've hired Petar from Dubrovnik Riviera Tours (lots of folks had great things to say about him on this forum!) and he'll meet us in Orbeic and drive us to Dubrovnik.

I may try to stop in Plešivica for a wine tasting as well, (outside of Zagreb), and can update in a trip report after we return.

Thank you, again!
