Enterprise car rental "Protection Products" in Croatia

Every time I go to rent a car, there seems to be a wider range of add-ons to the rental fee and boy, do they add up! I'd like some feedback on which of these Enterprise "Protection Products" forum members buy and why (or why not). I always get the full "zero excess" waiver - and I understand tire and windshield protection.

But what about the others listed below? For example, why does a customer need both Excess Reduction and Theft Protection? Don't they both cover theft of the vehicle? And don't Damage Waiver and Excess Reduction seem to overlap?

Damage Waiver: ("reduces the renter's liability in the event of damage the vehicle when no responsible third party is identified")

Excess Reduction: ("reduces the applicable excess in the event of damage or theft of the vehicle when no responsible third party is identified")

Theft Protection: ("covers the rented vehicle against total theft with a deductible amount")

There likely is a gaping loophole in consumer protection laws when it comes to renting a car in Croatia. When one can’t even make sense of the differences in the “protection products” offered by the car rental companies when you have as much time as you need to understand them— what do you think the average person is likely to do at the rental counter when they just want to get their car key and start their vacation?

It’s a scam, and the car rental companies know it is, But, the laws haven’t been tightened up to protect consumers in Croatia— a country heavily dependent on tourism dollars.
I would look at www.AutoEurope.com to rent a car
In Croatia. The AutoEurope website explains the various insurance coverages and often even includes some of the coverages you actually need in the quoted rental price .

Kenko, thank you for the very helpful tip.

I checked out AutoEurope and, yes, this consolidator does provide standardized rental protection for all the car rental companies it supports. The full coverage (if purchased through the AutoEurope rental) includes liability, fire, collision damage waiver, and theft protection.

In addition to knowing exactly what protection is being purchased, I found a better rental with Alamo at the AutoEurope website. I'm delighted.
