Eating out in Split, Vis, Lastoro, Korcula, et al

While on a bike tour in August, there are a number of nights we will be on our own for lunch or dinner, including Split, Vis, Lastoro, Korcula, Dubrovnik, Šipan, Trstenik, Sučuraj, Postira.

Would love to hear from this crowd about great meals or terrible ones so I avoid. I would be interested in laid back or casual as well as splurges.

*In *Dubrovnik, we had delicious meals at the following restaurants:

Kopun - Walk up the baroque Jesuit steps. To the right is the Jesuit church. To the left is Kopun. One of the best meals of our trip. We had delicious fresh seafood.
Taj Mahal - This is a Bosnian restaurant, not an Indian restaurant. Lots of meat dishes. Very popular so you need to make reservations.
Restaurant Dubrovska - we had lunch here one day. Located just outside Pile Gate, right on the water. Beautiful views and good food.

In Split:
We didn't have the best of luck in Split. We were here for 4 nights. We did enjoy our dinner at Central Kavana Restaurant in Narodni Square. My husband had stewed beef and I had lamb chops.

Friends of ours visited Split in the spring and they loved their meal at Kod Sfinge Vaneuropske Zviri. They said it was very reasonable. We were there the following September and I think the prices had gone up. And they were out of a lot of dishes, so we were disappointed in our experience.

It’s been many years, but check to see if Konoba Vatrica in Vis is still getting rave reviews—we had two outstanding meals there.
Where will you be on Lastovo?

I forgot to add Bokeria Restaurant in Split. The hotel we stayed at in Split gave us vouchers for breakfast every day at Bokeria. The breakfasts are delicious! I know Bokeria has an excellent reputation for lunches and dinners, too. We probably should have had a dinner here but because we had breakfast here every day we wanted to try different restaurants.

Adio Mare in Korcula is another “oldie but I hope still goodie.” The bakery Cukarin also fantastic!

Love it! Thanks for the link to Frank about Croatia.
In all, prefer recommendations from you seasoned travelers or from a dedicated Croatian website to the unknown posts on Trip Advisor. Also looked at Michelin recommendations but those are generally high end.

We are traveling on a chartered yacht with about a dozen others on a bike trip so staying on the boat most nights which is how and why we are hitting so many different islands.

I was on Lastovo in May (in Zaklopatica), when not a lot was open, so we ate with our hosts. There was a restaurant that I wanted to check out called Augusta Insula.

Can I ask which company you are using? We were booked with Katerina Line last September but they cancelled due to lack of passengers. Looking to use them in the future but would also look at other companies.

Barbara, we are doing a tour arranged by Biketours.com to celebrate their 20th anniversary. We have taken several bike tours through them, all arranged with different European bike tour operators. The last one, taken in Spring 2018 I think, was from Bologna To Parma Italy and it was absolutely fantastic. Lots to experience along the way - gelato museum, balsamic producer, parmaggiani maker, cooking class. And the quality of the bikes was top notch.
