Dubrovnik to Zagreb

I’m looking for ideas for my last few days in Croatia. I will be checking out of my hotel in Dubrovnik Friday morning April 18th and will need to be back to Zagreb on Sunday April 20th about noon. I will have already experienced Plitvice Lakes and will have spent 9 days between Split and Dubrovnik doing wineries and hiking. I’m looking for a way to make the most of my days traveling back to Zagreb. I do not want to drive so travel will be by public transport or private transfer. Looking forward to your ideas.

I'd be tempted to just stay in Dubrovnik another day and then fly to Zagreb (and I hate flying on vacation)--is your flight home on the 20th?
You'll have to delve into bus schedules, but instead of heading back to Split, you could pop up to SIbenik or Zadar before heading to Zagreb, but that is a lot of time on the road.

I spent a night in Zadar as I was traveling from Montenegro up to Zagreb. I liked the city. But there are other options (like Sibenik) I haven't seen, so I cannot compare them to Zadar.

We usually hire a driver. This company does transfers and we have used them a few times.

Since you have seen a lot of the good Croatian stuff on the way down to Dubrovnik think about taking in some of the neighboring countries.

I would split my time already planned in Dubrovnik with some time in Montenegro or Sarajevo ending in Dubrovnik on the 16th or 17th. Then fly to Zagreb on the 18th. There are 4 flights non-stop and the prices are good. The Dubrovnik airport is easy as is Zagreb.

If you were already planning to see Mostar, that could work out as there is a train from Mostar to Sarajevo, then getting back to Dubrovnik is not impossible. Or if you were already planning a day trip or something to the bay of Kotor, extend it to spend a few nights in Perast or Budva or Ulcinj; then back to Dubrovnik for a night or two before the flight.

But I wouldnt drive it. Thats too much like a forced march.
