Dubrovnik to Split Bus

I will be taking the bus from Dubrovnik to Split on a Friday in late May. I have had a look at the timetables and there is several options throughout the day all with fairly similar travel times. Any recommendations or tips for which bus company to take or are they all comparable? Will I need to buy a ticket online before I leave or will I be OK to get it from the station a few days before my journey?

Thanks

I don't think it matters which company because it may just be one or two. I don't remember which bus company but they are all modern, comfortable buses. I just bought it the day before from the bus station because I wanted to be sure to get the earliest bus (I'm not even sure online is an option)

I have only bought city-city bus tickets in person at the station/stop in numerous countries and would plan to do the same in Croatia.

If you don't plan to be near the bus station (which is in the port area) during you stay in Dubrovnik, inquire whether your hotel or B&B would call and reserve a ticket for you. My B&B owner volunteered to call when I asked her about buying a ticket, and I picked it up and paid for it about a half hour before departure. Saved me an extra trip out to the bus station.

I did this trip in the opposite direction (left from Split). I bought my ticket the day before and all way good. In fact, I remember the sales woman giving me a funny look because I wanted the first bus out of Split (at about 5 or 6 am). The bus was practically empty and I was able to kind of lay out on the seat next to me. The bus station in Dubrovnik is next to the port, which is a few minutes (by car) outside the main part of Dubrovnik. So allow yourself some time to get there when you buy your ticket.
