We are going to be in Dubrovnik 19-24 September and would like to visit Mostar with a private driver for a day trip. I have seen quite a few cautionary posts on facebook saying the border crossing back into the EU can have significant delays, even up to 5 hours for one unfortunate couple. That would be more than our patience could bear, and we are trying to decide how great is the risk of a lengthy delay. Any idea how I can learn more? Thanks!
We had no difficulty with that border crossing, because our driver knew which location for that crossing would be the fastest and most efficient. I would think that knowledge should be in a reputable, private driver's repertoire. Ask your driver about his/her experience with that crossing.
Amy, I havent talked to anyone who has had much of a delay. I guess anything can happen, but .... I wouldnt worry. If you have any opportunity to spend the night then you will have time to visit the Kravica waterfalls. A little like Plitvice but you can swim. Loved it. And you can visit Blagaj tekija which I cant imagine skipping if you go all the way to Mostar.
Wonderful, thank you both.
We travelled from Cavtat (just outside Dubrovnik) to Mostar last year, and the border crossing took no time at all- our driver basically slowed down long enough to hand over our passports at either end and we continued onwards. In case you need a driver recommendation, we used Taxi Pajo and were very happy with them.
Thanks for sharing your experience CatVH. That's reassuring.
