Dubrovnik to Mljet National park, Croatia

I’m having some difficulty figuring out how to get from Dubrovnik to Mljet National Park by boat. Do you have any knowledge about where I catch the boat, when it departs, etc?

The ferries that run to Split via Korcula and Hvar will (though not all/always) stop there. The specific port for the park, near the lakes and everything, is Pomena. You’ll have to check the schedule yourself at croatiaferries.com and see if it makes sense for you. If you have a group, you can always arrange private excursions.

I tried to figure this out myself and ultimately gave up. There’s not many boats, so you’ve got basically one window. It ends up being a long boat ride each way, with a full day on the island. Now, a full day sounds great, but there’s not a ton of facilities. It could feel rather quickly that you’re kind of stuck there for the day. I just couldn’t overlook the impracticality of going there versus another day trip, time on Lokrum, or in my case another day in Korcula. It’s absurd to say, but everywhere in Croatia was gorgeous, with incredible clear waters. I can’t imagine Mljet is that much more of an upgrade for the average visitor. No regrets here.

It looks like there are two boats a day from Dubrovnik to Pomena at 3:15 and 3:30PM. They both take about 90 minutes. The boats leave from the main port, to the northwest of the old city center. You can read in the RS book about how to get to the port.

Just like the first poster, we gave up trying to get to Mljet. We only wanted to go for the day but the ferry from Dubrovnik leaves too late.
