Dubrovnik/Mostar/Korcula

Hello-

I’ll be arriving in Dubrovnik on 6/10, staying thru Thursday. I’d really like to hire a driver to go see Mostar on 6/12 but not sure if Id be short changing myself on Dubrovnik. Not sure if one full day in Dubrovnik is good enough or I should just save Mostar for another time and enjoy Dubrovnik..

FWIW I would leave Dubrovnik on Thur 6/13 and head to Korcula for a two night stay, so I should be able to get beach relaxation/ocean activities in Korcula.

Thanks so much! All feedback appreciated!

It would be a bit rushed but a full day in Dubrovnik is sufficient IMO to thoroughly see the star of that show, the old town and walls. Mostar is a pretty long day trip but I think it is well worthwhile. You would see something of another country, Bosnia, and Mostar is very different from Dubrovnik. The Muslim population is large and it feels like you're in Turkey, in the old part of town. The reconstructed bridge over the fast flowing river is scenic. A few hours is sufficient for a visit to Mostar. The country you see inland from the coast is also quite different -- ranges of dry hills and wide valleys, sparsely populated until you near Mostar -- the geography actually reminded me a bit of places in the American west like central Oregon or parts of Montana, compared to the more typically Mediterranean look of the coast. I guess it depends in part on how likely "another time" in that area will be for you . . .

Yes, make sure to spend a day in wine country (Peljesac) on your way to Korčula. Over there, on the island, make sure to stop by and enjoy a morning in village Lumbarda.

Have a nice time ...!

At this late stage, you may have a very difficult time locating an available driver. IMO you would be better served to spend the two full days in Dubrovnik. Walk the walls, tour the Old Town, take the cable car to Mt. Srd to visit the Homeland War Museum, and then stay for the view of sunset over Dubrovnik.

Not sure you will have problem locating the driver..

Let me know by PM and most probably can help you.
Or even ask a taxi driver you find ok, with reasonable car to get you there. The issue is to find nice, not overly turistic place to go

I do agree with this statement youd be nicly served in the city visiting local restorants, walking the walls

Anyeay, have fun!!

It was years ago, but we had considerable border crossing delays in a similar (organized, not independent) daytrip from Dubrovnik. I don't know how best to deal with them, but you should certainly ask about the issue with your car service or tour company, when you find one. I remember two lines, one for sedans, and one for tour busses. It was also related to the then-current quality of relations between the two countries at the borders.

Definitly consider road Ravno - Stolac, or Dubrovnik - Neum - to Stolac, regarding border crossig
