Dubrovnik - Day trips going south

Hello
We have two free days in Dubrovnik before our tour (which heads north towards Zagreb) begins.
Is is worth the long bus ride to Mostar from Dubrovnik (looks popular)? Looks like a small historic town with character but its a long bus ride from Dubrovnik it seems.
Also considering Cavtat and Lokrum ( close by island with nice park).
Any thoughts on the above or other suggestions for day trips?
Looking for something leisurely (nothing like kayaking or hiking).

Or better to stay and explore Dubrovnik?
Any good restaurants to recommend in Dubrovnik for local or seafood near Old Town?

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

We are leaving for Croatia this Tuesday. We have hired a private driver to take us around the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro and to stop at some villages along the bay.

Does your tour include some time in Dubrovnik? If not, I would stay in Dubrovnik to walk the walls and see other sites for at least one day. Then you could do a day trip on the 2nd day, either the ones you are considering or the Bay of Kotor.

Mostar is interesting, but I would suggest a day trip to Montenegro instead. I took an Atlas day tour that I really enjoyed, but other companies offer them too. Places visited and length of tour vary, so keep that in mind when comparing tours. On your other free day, you coud visit Lorum and still have time to see some sights in Dubrovnik not covered by your tour.

If your tour does not cover Dubrovnik, I'd certainly spend one full day exploring the town. Get up early and walk the walls leisurely. In the afternoon, a trip over to Lokrum might be lovely (it's only a 20" boat ride), to explore the park, the botanical garden and the beautiful scenery for several hours. I'd consider a day trip on your second day, either to Montenegro or to Korcula. Lots of companies run day trips to Korcula, which is a gorgeous island, with history, scenery, and good food.
