Can anyone tell me the drive time between Lake Bled and Rovinj AND Rovinj and Plitvice ?
Have you discovered any interesting stops on the drive to either one ? Or a great coffee/pastry stop on the way to break up the drive?
We are trying to figure out an itinerary and I don't want to be surprised by the length of the drive !!
We did not drive from Bled to Rovinj but we did drive from Rovinj to Plitvice. Don't remember how long it took but according to google maps it's about 4 hours. This time is via the town of Rastoke, which we highly recommend as a stop. It's about 30-45 minutes from Plitvice and a beautiful town with many waterfalls and watermills. If you google it you will see that it is a town worth visiting.
Once you're on the toll roads in Croatia and Slovenia, you probably won't want to get off. They are brand new and smooth and a pleasure to drive in the European style on! (Stay to the right unless you want a triple-digit-speed BMW kissing your rear bumper.)
We were there in 2008 and could only see the initial building stages of the rest stop 'AutoGrilles' that have definitely opened by now. It should feel a lot like driving in Italy.
Google Maps is a great tool for determining distances.
Lake Bled to Rovinj - 2 hours 36 minutes. This time does not include passing through the border, which can take time, depending on the traffic. Postojna Cave is a good stop along the way.
Rovinj to Plitvice - about 3 hours. Not much interesting along this route, best just to get there.
