I'm confused about the visitor status of the Dominican Monastery and its art treasures in Dubrovnik. Is it closed for renovation now? Partly open? Sometimes open? Open as normal? Thanks for any recent information.
When are you going?
In mid-October
I was trying to find something on-line about the Monastery but couldn’t get an answer either. I’ll be there October 4-7 and can check it out. If you send me a PM around that time to remind me I’ll look cause now I am curious.
Wonderful, thank you for checking when you're there! Have a great trip!
I also put a reminder on my phone for October 4 to remind myself. It’s awful getting old, lol.
We were just there a few weeks ago. Doors locked, no signage and non one could answer if and when it's opened...
If that’s the case I’ll ask at the TI
We were there last Tuesday, but did not go in. The man selling tickets said that two museums and the cloister were open. Admission is eight euro or four euro with a Dubrovnik card.
Thank you, that is hopeful!
I neglected to mention the entrance. As you are walking toward the .Ploče Gate, after passing the Sponza Palace, there is a ramp ( or stairway, I don’t remember) on the left. This ramp is on the rear of another building and leads to an entryway, on the left is an art gallery and down the short hall on the right is the entrance to what is open of the Dominican facility.
Michael, it is steps leading up to the Monastery. We are in Dubrovnik now and just checked it out. They are renovating part of the church which had a separate entrance.
Thanks for that info. Are you allowed to see the art treasures, specifically the Titian painting?
I didn’t go in but I’ll try to check when I pass by tomorrow
I’m sorry but we didn’t get a chance to check it out - we were on Lokrum for the day.
That's okay, thank you for thinking of it at all. Hope you are having a lovely time! Can't wait to go to Lokrum myself!
