day trip from dubrovnik

Hello!
I was looking for advice on a day trip from Dubrovnik. I was looking at an island hopping cruise in the Elaphites or a day trip to Montenegro. Has anyone been to one of the other? Any recommendations?

Thank you,
Kathleen Laughlin

I took a full day trip to Montanegro through Viator (a tour consolidator that pair up with local tour groups) - it covered Budva, Kotor Bay, some smaller towns along the water, and a town way up in the mountains. The scenery was striking - it looked like fiords from above - gorgeous scenery. In retrospect, I could easily do the trip via rental car but I'd hate to drive those tight switchbacks with a manual transmission. Kotor Bay was quite beautiful as well. I would highly recommend a day trip to Montanegro, as well as Korcula (that was another long day trip I took and which I would also highly recommend - very different from the Montanegro trip, but both were worthwhile). Korcula was one of my favorite side trips too - the tour went through beautiful wineyards and two small fortified towns (Ston and Mali Ston) which I really enjoyed.

(PS. Unlike Croatia, Montenegro uses Euros).

I di the Montenegro/Bay of Kotor day trip from Dubrovnik. I really liked it. I used Petar Vlasic for a private tour. He was just an awesome tour guide. I did a second day trip with him - to Mostar. That was also a great day...not quite as pretty as the Montenegro/Bay of Kotor trip but I actually preferred Mostar...the visible history there from the early 90s was something I am very grateful to have seen in person.

Last month I did a daytrip with our tour grp to Mostar and Montenegro.
Both took a full day ea. While I enjoyed these day trips I would have liked the option. To see an island nr Dubrovnik and the coastline from the sea. The coastline is gorgeous along Croatia. To see it by ferry or by cruising i think would be outstanding. Ck into your island tour alittle more nd hopefully u can cruise the coast a bit along the way. It is now on my to see list.

When in Dubrovnik, I recommend trips to either Montenegro or Mostar. If you have to choose, go with Montenegro if you want to keep the same Dalmatian Coast vibe that you have in Dubrovnik and want to be close to or on the water or beach. Choose Mostar if you want culture, history, and to see what this region endured during the 1990s. While Montenegro remains consistent with a Dalmatian trip, Mostar was one of my personal highlights while in the Balkans.
