Will have a day off in Rovinj in May. Not sure what there is to do there. Thinking about wine tasting but tours look over priced. Suggestions?

It's a nice day off from the tour. It's fun to walk around, see the buildings, shop and unwind. We were on the RS tour and we thoroughly enjoyed the day hanging out and having a break from the schedule. Although that night we had a sunset cruise which was optional. We went and it was great. We had a very nice room at the hotel and the hotel sold great bottles of wine. We would sit on our porch, enjoy a glass of wine, be present and take in the vibe.

The historic center is very atmospheric. If you will have already seen enough of that, check out the public-bus options to Porec (colorful), Pula (some Roman ruins) and tiny hilltop Vrsar.

Rovinj is great! Relax, wander around and explore, visit the beach, eat and drink, shop for art, and climb the church tower for a view of the entire town.
