Croatia: Split and Dubrovnik area guide recommendations

We visited Croatia in May 2026.
We used two guides that had been recommended by RS travelers and want to confirm that we had a great experience with each one.
There are so many guides that pop up when you do a general search. I appreciated the specific information that the RS travelers provided. We booked these well in advance of arriving.

In Split: We took a private 2 hour tour of the Diocletian's Palace. Our guide was Viktorija and we booked through Private Split Walking Tours, managed by Filip Pogacic. ( [email protected] ) I believe he also leads tours.

In Dubrovnik we used Julija Antunovic for a day trip to Montenegro and the Bay of Kotor. She is both the driver and the tour guide.
Ours was a group of 3. It is not inexpensive but we were very pleased with our day with Julija.
She does other trips as well.

I believe Maja Benzon is mentioned in Rick Steves' book. [email protected]
My husband and I found Maja to be an excellent tour guide for Split's Old Town and Diocletian's Palace. (Sept. 2025)

Maya was the Split local guide yesterday on the Diocletian Palace tour on my RS Adriatic tour. I thought she was superb.

We booked Nera Pavlovic as our private tour guide in Dubrovnik earlier this year after getting a recommendation on this forum, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip. We chose a 3-hour private Dubrovnik tour, which was the perfect amount of time to see the highlights without feeling rushed.
What we loved most was that Nera didn’t give us a standard, one-size-fits-all tour. Since she usually works with private tours in Dubrovnik, she was able to tailor the experience to our interests and adjust the pace along the way. She is incredibly warm and friendly, but also very knowledgeable about Dubrovnik’s history, the Old Town, and the local area. Her storytelling made the history genuinely interesting and entertaining rather than feeling like a history lecture.
If you’re looking for a private Dubrovnik tour or a local Dubrovnik tour guide, I would highly recommend Nera. She gave us a much more personal experience than we would have had with a large group tour, and we left feeling like we had actually learned about Dubrovnik rather than simply checked off the main sights.
Definitely one of the highlights of our time in Dubrovnik!
