Croatia/Slovania Flights

We are heading to Split in late September for a coastal cruise from Split to Dubrovnik.
We intend to fly into Split unless a better suggestion/option is conveyed.
We will then trip to Mostar and on to Kotar then fly to Ljubijana.
We then will fly home the last week in October.
While the flights into and out of both cities are available stopping to change planes
more that once is hard on my wife's ears. The up and down causes problems.
Looking for alternatives for airports that may work.

Ljubljana is only 3 hours from Venice, via either a bus/train connection, or a direct GoOpti shuttle (which I have taken) from your hotel in Lj to the Venice airport or to Piazzale Roma in Venice (near the train station, and a major vaporetto stop). If you could find a late morning or early afternoon flight out of Venice (or would like to spend a night in Venice before going on home), then you might want to look at flights out of Venice at the end of your trip and take ground transportation to Venice from Lj. There are multiple direct flights from Venice to major US east coast airports.

We've done several GoOpti shuttles. The longest was Venice to Ljubijana. All with no problems.

I don't believe there are any non-stop flights from Kotor (nearest airport: Tivat) to Ljubljana. There are occasional flights--not necessarily daily--from Podgorica (the capital) to Ljubljana. Montenegro Airlines serves that route; I don't know whether any other airlines do. You could of course make a connection, but that would mean 2 take-offs and 2 landings. There is bus service between Kotor and Podogrica. Running time varies but is generally between 2 and 2-1/2 hours.

You can use skyscanner.com to check schedules and fares for intra-European flights and getbybus.com for bus information.

I've found it best to verify Balkan bus schedules at the bus station in the departure city. I would not plan a morning flight out of Podgorica if you plan to spend your last Montenegrin night in Kotor; I'd want to allow a low of slack, because I wouldn't 100% trust an on-line bus schedule, especially months in advance.

I believe there are more flights out of Zagreb (Croatia) than out of Ljubljana. The two cities are roughly 2-1/2 hours apart by train and bus.
