Croatia - Private Car Hire/Transfer Recommendations

My wife & I are planning a trip to Croatia in September with a proposed itinerary of Dubrovnik --> Split --> Hvar --> Rovinj (via Split) before ending our trip in Venice. While in Dubrovnik we may also do a day trip to Mostar.

We're not planning on renting a car during our trip. I've never driven outside the US and Canada, and don't feel comfortable driving in Croatia (and Bosnia-Herzegovina) since I don't drive much back home in the US (we live in a major city and don't have a car).

In our research we're struggling to find quality ground transportation options such as private car hire/transfer for getting from Dubrovnik to Split, and Split to Rovinj. The options we've found seem surprisingly expensive given our past experiences with hiring private car transfers in Europe; we used it 3x last September while traveling from Czech Republic --> Austria --> Slovakia --> Hungary during the refugee crisis and had a great experience with it.

We're a bit hesitant to take buses, especially for the Split to Rovinj leg of our trip because of the duration. Are there reputable private car transfer companies that one recommends in Croatia (from Dubrovnik and Split)?

Thank you in advance for your recommendations and feedback!

I would reconsider buses if you don't get any attractive alternative options. I took one from Split to Dubrovnik (and from Bosnia as well) and it's very inexpensive and comfortable with great views along the way. I would not hesitate to drive in Croatia either - it's a very laid back country and driving along the coast should not be stressful (no more so than driving in the US).

We used Petar Vlasic for a day tour from Dubrovnik to the Bay of Kotor. He was really quite excellent. We used him a second day as well to get to Mostar. He's a great driver, very safe, and extremely knowledgable about the history of area. He'll take you anywhere you want, I believe. I think we paid him $250 per full day of driving. Highly recommended. Here's a link to his website: http://www.dubrovnikrivieratours.com

Look into the coastal ferries that are available. They are relatively cheap and most of your destinations are coastal.
